Microsoft BPOS, Cloud to Dominate Partner Confab (SearchITChannel)
Microsoft partners congregating in Washington D.C. next week will have BPOS on the brain. Microsoft's Business Productivity Online Suite launched in late 2008 to a lukewarm reception from partners. Now, as Google Apps continues to obsess Microsoft and its partners, Microsoft VARs -- many of which will come to Washington for the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference -- hope Microsoft will "juice" incentives to encourage them to sell the Microsoft-hosted bundle of Exchange Server, SharePoint and Live Meeting services.
Analyst's View: Will Windows 8 Be A Business-Only OS? (PC Magazine)
Could Windows 8 be the Windows 2000 of the 21st century? When Microsoft released Windows 2000, it was largely embraced by the corporate world, but few consumers (except hard-core geeks) ran it on their home machines. Windows 95, Windows 98, and the doomed Windows Millennium targeted the average user. A decade later, rumors and hints point to a Windows 8 that appears poised to walk the same business-centric path.

Microsoft has long been sustained by the swarm of resellers and consultants that peddle its products to millions of clients in every domain, from small business to the public sector. The software giant's 640,000 global partners account for 95 percent of its revenue, which totaled more than $58 billion last fiscal year. Like worker bees to a hive, they keep Microsoft humming.

Excel Services in SharePoint 2010 (CODE)
Excel services is yet another important pillar in Microsoft’s business intelligence offering. Business users really like Excel because it is easy to use and they can add complex formulas to Excel to express their logic. They can do so without involving the IT guy. The problem with this scenario, however, is that it becomes very difficult to share some Excel sheets with their coworkers. Usually users prefer to send workbooks via email, but sometimes the workbooks are too large for email, sometimes they have backend data connections, and sometimes workbooks send via email cause version confusion hell.
Configuring Profile Import in SharePoint 2010 (The SharePoint Farmer's Almanac)
So I keep smashing my head into this and it drives me nuts. So I am going to try to throw together some quick nuggets. I have gotten this to successfully work about a dozen times so I have hopefully seen all of the craziness. I have also worked with Todd Klindt to compile some of these notes. The first one is for goodness sakes read this TechNet article. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee721049.aspx If you read it slowly and do everything it says you can do very little wrong. But no one wants to read it so here are my notes.
