How Small to Midsize Enterprise Businesses Can Benefit from SaaS
Published 03/15 courtesy of Bamboo Solutions Community
Here at Bamboo Cloud, we believe SaaS is a game changing alternative for Small to Midsize Enterprise Businesses (SMB's.) First, their value is hard to beat. With the SaaS model, businesses get access to world class software solutions, and pricing is generally based upon a subscription model. Services are scaled to match the level of subscriptions purchased, and include deployment, product support and updates and bug fixes. This means drain on IT is lessened and scalability is quick and easy.
Flexibility is another key strength when considering SaaS products for SMB's. Data can be accessed from anywhere at any time. Staff can work as efficiently at home or on the road, as they would in the office. Additionally, SaaS companies take Security very seriously, and this benefit can turn out to be cost effective in the end.
SaaS is changing enterprise software management. For a long time enterprise software was really the only option for many SMB's. This was due to larger companies, with multi-million dollar IT budgets, driving enterprise software solutions. SMB's were forced to go the route larger more successful companies were taking, regardless of the fit, and a good deal of money was spent to deploy enterprise software solutions that didn't necessarily address the needs of the SMB market.
With the economic downturn, we see that SMB's are looking for easy, cost effective solutions that fit their organizations specific needs. Software as a Service (SaaS), allows an organization the ability to free up IT budgets that sometimes see large sums of money go to technical infrastructure, project overruns, and IT support costs. SaaS allows SMB's to free up resources so that the focus can actually be on the organizations purpose. SaaS also allows your IT director or a business unit, within an organization, the ability to purchase solutions on demand and by the user seat. SMB's are no longer required to purchase a single application.
It is important to state however, that SMB's need to look at their company structure first to determine if SaaS makes sense. To us here at Bamboo Cloud, it is hard to find a situation where it doesn't. The value is just too great. But to the point: SaaS is great for companies that have remote staff, or staff who travel often and must be connected to home base. A company with distributed Sales and/or Support teams can particularly benefit from SaaS solutions like BambooCRM and BambooSupport that has SharePoint collaboration features. If a company is spending a good deal of money on admin, IT, storage, etc, SaaS products may be able to help. Last, if companies are using outdated versions of software, or are have outgrown their current software solutions, it is time to start considering SaaS.
Software as a Service, with cloud computing, is here to stay because it is more dynamic and more easily incorporated into the enterprise business processes.
