Oracle Cloud Office Takes Aim At Microsoft, Google (InformationWeek)
Oracle squarely took aim at rivals Microsoft and Google with its introduction on Wednesday of a cloud-based suite of business applications. Oracle Cloud Office -- like Google Docs and Microsoft's Docs.com and Office 365 -- is a Web-based productivity suite, featuring word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and drawing software. The software is based on technology Oracle received as part of its acquisition of Sun in January.
Apple iPad, HP Slate, Dell Streak Drive Corporate Tablet Use (eWeek)
Corporate purchasing of the Apple iPad and other tablet PCs will rise in 2011, according to new survey data by ChangeWave Research. Based on responses from 1,641 business IT buyers, ChangeWave suggests that some 7 percent of corporations now provide their employees with tablet PCs, a 1 percent increase from August. Apple’s iPad constitutes 82 percent of that business market, followed by Hewlett-Packard with 11 percent and Dell with 7 percent.

Can Windows Phone 7 Match Elegance, Versatility of iOS and Android? (PhysOrg)
It has taken forever, but Microsoft's overhauled mobile platform is finally here. The stakes have changed drastically since its last major update. Smart phones have taken over as the mobile device of choice for consumers, with the Apple iPhone and Google's Android OS duking it out for supremacy. So does Windows Phone 7 have what it takes to make this a three-way battle? Yes and no.
Novell's Patents Bought by Microsoft, Apple, EMC, & Oracle (ZDNet)
When CPTN Holdings appeared out of the blue to snap up Novell’s patent portfolio, the only thing anyone knew about them was that Microsoft was behind the group and that’s all Microsoft had to say about its Novell intellectual property (IP) purchase. Now, thanks to Germany’s anti-trust body, the Bundeskartellamt, we know that Microsoft’s CPTN Holdings partners were Apple, EMC, and Oracle.
Microsoft Bing Hits New Market Share High (Windows.Blorge)
Should Microsoft just give up and go home when it comes to search? I mean, an 11.8 percent market share is a victory of sorts, but it’s surely a hollow one when Google is still sitting pretty on 66.2 percent. Bing has hit an all-time high in terms of search market share. Unfortunately, that high is just 11.8 percent, far, far lower than Google’s 66.2 percent, and lower even than Yahoo’s 16.4 percent. Which once again makes me wonder whether Microsoft ever has a chance of truly competing with Google on this score.

Creating A SharePoint Parent/Child List Relationship– SharePoint 2010 Edition (The SharePoint Hillbilly)
Hey blog readers… It has been almost 2 years since I posted my most read blog on creating a Parent/Child list relationship in SharePoint 2007: Creating a SharePoint List Parent / Child Relationship - Out of the Box And then a year ago I improved on my method and redid the blog post… still for SharePoint 2007: Creating a SharePoint List Parent/Child Relationship – VIDEO REMIX. Since then many of you have been asking me how to get this to work in SharePoint 2010, and frankly I have just not had time to look into it. I wish I could have jumped into this sooner, but have just recently began to look at it.
Staffing and People Mappings (Club MOSS France)
One more commonly overlooked component of a successful implementation is staffing. Architects and administrators usually do a good job creating a bill of goods for hardware and software, but they often forget to secure funding for personnel to adequately develop and maintain systems. SharePoint can consume a large amount of human resources if used to its full potential. Understand what types of dedicated personnel are required in the beginning, and start getting stakeholders' support immediately. The table below offers a suggested staffing schedule for you to consider. (Note: F = One full time person and P = One part time person.)
Show/Hide Lookup Fields with jQuery (Nothing But SharePoint)
In this article, I will show you how to show and hide form fields dependent on the value of a drop-down list field, with a special look at what to do with Lookup fields. I am often given requirements for SharePoint forms that have functionality that isn’t possible with the out-of-the-box controls, this is one such example.

SharePoint 2010 introduced many new features to improve user experience. Challenge: How can I deploy/remove a solution package in SharePoint 2010 using PowerShell commands?
