Review: Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 (ComputerWorld)
In November, we gave SharePoint 2010 beta a test drive. Now, we put the shipping product through its paces and find that Microsoft has delivered a multi-purpose tool that delivers a bigger bang because of its tight coupling with Office 2010. Some caveats remain from our first look at SharePoint 2010. It's 64-bit only, so you may need to upgrade your servers. It does not support Internet Explorer 6, so you may want to upgrade to IE8. And to get the full functionality you pretty much need to be running the latest version of other Microsoft products, including Windows Server 2008 R2 and Office 2010.
SharePoint 2010 Eases Development Process (Thinq)
The latest version of Microsoft’s server application – SharePoint 10 – is evolutionary, rather than revolutionary. Previous versions of the software have focused on the enterprise. SharePoint 2010 fills in some of the gaps left in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007) and at last encompasses social networking in the workplace.
Office 2010 Will Have SharePoint Hooks, Analyst Says (RedmondMag)
Microsoft plans to make a splash by announcing new 2010 products on Wednesday, but IT organizations should check the fine print. New versions of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Project and Visio may require a significant jump in infrastructure investment, especially for those organizations still using Office 2003 and other legacy Microsoft products. That's one of the conclusions of a report published on Friday by Directions on Microsoft, which provides consulting services.
Microsoft, Google Prepare for Cloud Productivity Fight (eWeek)
Microsoft will release Office 2010 to businesses May 12, with a cloud-based component that allows users to access stripped-down editions of OneNote, Excel, Word and PowerPoint through their browser. That will bring Microsoft into conflict on yet another front with Google, which already offers a cloud-based productivity suite through Google Apps. Whether Google Apps represents a true threat to Microsoft's traditional desktop-based dominance, though, depends on whether the cloud is ubiquitous and reliable enough to attract businesses and consumers in substantial numbers, something at least one analyst doubts. Microsoft also has a substantial budget to leverage for Office 2010’s rollout.
Microsoft Aims to Sell Business on Office 2010 (Q&A) (CNET)
After months of pitching businesses on Office 2010, Microsoft Business Division President Stephen Elop is excited to start selling the product. Although it won't hit store shelves for another month, large businesses can now start buying the latest versions of Office and SharePoint, an event which will be marked later on Wednesday with an event in New York. With this version of the product, Office is going in several new places, with the most important of those being to the Web browser.
Microsoft Tweaks Office Mobile (Forbes)
Working from a mobile device is about to get more intuitive and collaborative--at least for Microsoft users. The software giant is gearing up to release a revamped version of its mobile software suite, Office Mobile 2010. Like regular Office 2010, the new mobile applications are designed to help users connect more easily and team up on shared documents. The software, which got its last major update in fall 2007, will be available in June through Microsoft's Windows Marketplace for Mobile. It will run on phones based on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system.

How do I Leverage Secure Store from Within My .Net Connectivity Assembly? (Microsoft Business Connectivity Services Team Blog)
With Database, Web Service and WCF connectors, there is one and only one external system. BCS understands how to connect to these external systems, and it supports Secure Store integration out-of-box for these connectors. Within a .NET assembly connector, the .NET assembly code can use zero, one or many external systems. Since BCS does not know what the .NET assembly code does, it does not support Secure Store integration out of box for the .NET assembly connector.
How the SDL Helped Improve Security in Office 2010 (Microsoft Office 2010 Engineering)
Hello, my name is Didier and I am a Security Program Manager in the Microsoft Security Engineering Center. We focus on helping teams like Office go beyond the minimum requirements of the Security Development Lifecycle (SDL). For Office 2010, I worked closely with members of the Office TWC team. The Microsoft SDL is a security assurance process that is focused on software development. As a company-wide initiative and a mandatory policy since 2004, the SDL has played a critical role in embedding security and privacy in software and culture at Microsoft. Combining a holistic and practical approach, the SDL aims to reduce the number and severity of vulnerabilities in software. The SDL introduces security and privacy throughout all phases of the development process.
Organizing Chaos -- Tag It! (Enterprise 2.0)
One of the most powerful means of filtering, sorting and searching information that has emerged as part of social computing is the use of “tags” to classify content of all types. Associating tags with content creates a set of metadata that is used to find content. This metadata provides a new paradigm for finding content which complements the traditional search mechanisms that users are familiar with.
