Microsoft has issued the final beta on Exchange Server 2010 along with the final beta of its security companion, Forefront for Exchange Sever 2010. The newest Exchange Server, which is 64-bit only, is expected to ship before year-end.
Microsoft: Word Ban Would Cause 'Irreparable Harm' (Channel Web)
Microsoft on Tuesday filed a motion with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C., in a bid to stave off a court-ordered injunction that could force it to stop selling its lucrative Word product. Last week, a U.S. District Court in Texas issued a permanent injunction that prohibits Microsoft from selling Word versions that can open .XML, .DOCX or DOCM files containing custom XML, and gave the company until Oct. 10 to comply.

Mozilla executives today began a concerted campaign to prod European Union (EU) antitrust regulators to demand more from Microsoft than the browser "ballot screen" Windows will offer users later this year.

Nearly a year ago, Google introduced Chrome, an Internet browser that aims to take on Microsoft, Apple and Mozilla with a faster way to surf the Web. Chrome sports a minimalist design, like the Google home page. The idea: Take away some of the fat and offer less clutter to make Web pages zip open. Since its debut, Chrome has evolved into a customizable entity, much like Google's Gmail. New "skins," for instance, let you personalize the look.

Specifically, Dana focuses on the role of the Enterprise Architect, and he correctly assesses their increased prominence in tomorrow’s organizations.
Legal Implications of Cloud Computing — Part One (the Basics and Framing the Issues) (Info Sec Compliance)
I had the pleasure of hearing an excellent presentation by Tanya Forsheit on the legal issues arising out of cloud computing during the ABA Information Security Committee’s recent meeting (at the end of July) in Chicago. The presentation resulted in a spirited debate between several attorneys in the crowd. The conversation spilled over into happy hour and became even more interesting. The end result: my previous misunderstanding of cloud computing as “just outsourcing” was corrected, and now I have a better appreciation of what “the cloud” is and the legal issues cloud computing raises.

Sometimes when building SharePoint solutions or creating custom lists you want to hide some columns from the new or edit form. But the default new and edit form are automatically generating the form fields with all the columns that are created for the list.
How to Use Excel 2007 to Separate a Column that has First Name and Last Name, Separated by a Space, Into Two Separate Columns (Brain Litter)
This seemed a worthy 30 second video/overview to share as I run into this enough that others must too. I needed to take an existing spreadsheet, that had several sheets of 'users' where the Username and Password were in the same column/field. I needed to separate them into separate columns, with minimal effort (read: lazy) – I had many more to do, than the 5 in this sampler – but you can see how easy/quick this process actually was.
How I Benefit from Native Boot From VHD (Reza Alirezaei’s Blog)
One of the neat features introduced in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 (Read it Windows 7 Server!) is the support for native VHD boot right out of the box. This feature allows you to setup multi-boot scenarios on your machine a lot easier and safer than the traditional way of provisioning multiple OS partitions on your hard drive - something that we all have been doing for a long long time! All you need to do is to make a vhd as a bootable drive that contains its own OS (Win 7 or Win 2008) and then make your computer to boot from it. Simply and sexy!

The types of lists and libraries most common to a Meeting Workspace site are listed under the Web Parts section in the Add Web Parts task pane. You can create other types of lists or libraries and add their associated Web Parts, too, or you can add Web Parts for lists or libraries that were created previously.
