Billy crystallized things perfectly, as he often does. In this new world of "easy to do," Apple has done very well and Microsoft has struggled. In the old world, customers wanted a Swiss Army Knife, with the most gimmicks and gadgets possible. In the new world, people want elegantly cutlery. They may want cake cutters and utility knives too, but they don't want one device that works for all three tasks. People don't want tools, they want utensils. People don't want machines. They want appliances.
