Local Governments Embrace The Cloud Faster Than Feds (InformationWeek)
While the public sector in general is moving to cloud computing for a number of reasons, state and local governments in particular are making the leap faster than their counterparts at the federal level, a Microsoft government executive said this week. "I think state and local may be moving a little more quickly, especially at the local government level," Gail Thomas-Flynn, Microsoft's vice president of state and local government, said in an interview with InformationWeek. "There’s an opportunity to be a little more agile at the local government."

Box.net Takes Aim at Enterprise IT (Internet Evolution)
News that enterprise cloud storage startup Box.net has scored $48 million in new funding, bringing its total to over $75 million, should surprise no one in IT. What might surprise many observers is how well Box.net has read the roadsigns of enterprise computing. To start at the top: The option to store corporate data off-site on the Web is catching on, albeit slowly, with enterprise customers. In a survey of 230 enterprise IT pros taken by cloud storage provider Zetta in the fall of 2010, 51 percent of respondents said they plan to use cloud storage.

Be a Rainmaker in the Cloud World, with Bill Staples of Microsoft (Web Host Industry Review)
Bill Staples of Microsoft closed out the first part of the Thursday morning keynote sessions at Parallels Summit this week. He addressed the question of whether Microsoft is a partner or a competitor in the cloud space. And the answer, he says, is both.

Microsoft 'Do Not Track' Plan Accepted by Web Standards Group W3C (PC Magazine)
Microsoft's "do not track" browser proposal got a boost Thursday when the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), a Web standards body, gave Microsoft's plan its stamp of approval. The W3C has accepted and published Microsoft's submission, which W3C called "timely and well-aligned with the consortium's objectives and priorities." An official announcement is expected in early March, and W3C will hold a workshop at Princeton University on April 28 and 29 to assess whether W3C should proceed with more work in this area.

In addition to my passion for SEO (Search Engine Optimization), I’m an investigative researcher/blogger with a penchant for finding confidential information on the cutting edge of topics I’m passionate about. Today, I continue that tradition by bringing you a post consisting of a culmination of Windows 8, Windows Server 8 and even Office 15 information I’ve discovered over the course of the past month or so.
