Sharepoint Web Parts Bundled At A Discount
Published 09/30 by SharePoint Answers
Virtosoftware introduced last weekend (Sept. 27) a new bundle of its four most popular web parts that effectively reduces their price by 30 percent, according to the company's announcement.
New companies are offering Sharepoint web parts all the time. Virtosoftware, which debuted in April and already claims 1,500 users, said the four Sharepoint web parts simplify the interfaces for, or add function to, Sharepoint calendaring, alert management, directory management and password management.
The calendaring web part, named Virto Ajax Calendar, adds SQL tables as a calendar data source, for starters. It also supports MOSS Audience Targeting that allows restricting access to list events only to specified users and user groups, and enables flexible customization of event information. In addition, it provides what the company calls an "extremely user friendly and simple interface" for creating and modifying events.
Virto Alerts Customizer lets users create alerts within a minute, send them to a specific user or a group of users, build customized trigger schemes, define delivery schedules, create text templates and send alerts via SMS and instant messenger applications.
Virto Active Directory User Service is a web part that allows a user to view, edit and store his personal profile data via Sharepoint.
Virto Password Changer enables users of form-based authentication to change their passwords when they are logged onto a Sharepoint site. Without it, system administrators typically need to change passwords manually or generate them randomly.
The four web parts are available bundled together, and priced at $1190. They are available in English, German, French, Spanish, Russian and Chinese. More information is at the Virtosoftware web site, http://www.virtosoftware.com/.
